Description

Description

From the extraordinary St Armand mill in Montreal Canada. comes the Old Masters Papers. These printing and drawing papers are thin, (can vary) approximately 90 gsm and made from linen and cotton rag reminiscent of the papers from the 17th Century. The laid authentic finish is excellent for calligraphy and drawing with chalk and sanguine. But their uses for printing in lithography, letterpress, etching as well as inkjet have proved themselves ideal.

The Saint-Armand paper mill was established by David Carruthers in 1979. They manufacture at the mill, the St-Armand handmade papers, the machine-made Canal papers, and the sanded paper Sabretooth for artists. The mill uses their own own pulp to make paper, using mostly cotton from clothing manufacturers' offcuts, but also linen, flax straw and jute. The pulp is internally sized. The St-Armand handmade papers are made one sheet at a time following traditional methods. The sheets have 4 deckled edges and no grain direction.

Please note that the papers can vary from batch to batch. If you are looking for a match, please send us a sample to compare the current stock.  The beautiful Ungava Lt Blue now has flecks.
