Hahnemuhle of Germany has been producing printmaking papers since the 16th century.  Hahnemuhle Copperplate is often touted as the finest "copperplate" printing paper on the market, and at an affordable price is a solid choice for most printers.

Copperplate is mouldmade sheet with two natural deckles and two tear deckles, 100% alpha cellulose fiber content, with a neutral pH, and chlorine free.  This paper has no surface sizing, and very little internal sizing, which makes it almost considered a waterleaf sheet.  These specific sizing characteristics yield a sheet with a soft touch and amazing absorption qualities and less need for soaking in preparation of printing.

Despite this paper being made of alpha cellulose fiber and not cotton, it is able to take a deep impression without cracking around the edges of the plate and will also dry flat.  This paper has excellent dimensional stability.  It is also suitable for drawing, pencil, charcoal, and pastel use.

All sheets are acid free, neutral sized, alkaline buffered with calcium carbonate and contain no optical brighteners. They meet the requirements for permanence according to ANSI/NISO Z 39.48-1992 and DIN ISO 9706.
