Description
These monofilament polyester fabrics are noted for high strength and dimensional stability, and prove very effective for the relining of paintings and other artwork. Originally brought to the field of painting conservation by the renowned Gustav Berger, and regularly referenced in his book Conservation of Paintings. They are suitable for full linings, string linings and many other applications. The course and medium weaves also make excellent stretched supports for drying racks.
The approximate thread counts for the various weaves are as follows:
Coarse: 20-25 threads per inch, thread diameter 260um
Medium: 55-60 threads per inch, thread diameter 140um
Fine: 220-240 threads per inch, thread diameter 48um
Extra Fine: 325-335 threads per inch, thread diameter 34um
