Description

ATCO Oxygen absorbers are used for anoxic treatments in tight chambers of large volumes of air up to 250 liters in size. The anoxic atmosphere will slow down the growth of aerobic microorganisms and can be used for the treatment of inspect and pest infestations. For very large volumes it is helpful to flush chambers with nitrogen before the introduction of the ATCO Box absorber.

The ATCO Box is capable of reducing the oxygen concentration to below 0.01%. At 20 degrees Celcius the oxygen content will drop to 0.01% within 48 hours, at 10 degrees Celcius it takes about 72 hours, and and 5 degrees Celcius about 96 hours. The obsorption of oxygen leads to a warming of the ATCO Box (up to about 42 degrees Celcius). Due to this increased heat, ATCO releases moisture, increasing the relative humidity up to 75%. ATCO Box can he used and is effective at both low and high humidity levels.

One ATCO Box 250 can absorb 52 liters of oxygen, which is the quantity of oxygen found in approximately 250 liters of air. In an airtight chamber, the oxygen level drops to below 0.01% within a few hours. Due to the chemical reaction, the box heats up. This can be reduced by limiting the access of oxygen with a nitrogen flush before sealing, which reduces the speed of the reaction.

The ATCO Box 250 comes in a sealed plastic encosure. It should be removed from this bag immediately before use, but the cover over the container should not be removed.

ATCO oxygen absorbers are from the food industry, are non-toxic, and can be disposed of with household waste after use.

Each ATCO Box 250 is approximately 100mm (3 inch) cube in size and weighs 700 grams (1.55 pounds).
